Doctor Zeus

Background

In reality I used Medusa to turn those who're seeing // any TV,
Straight into stone,
No Hercules or Spider-man could stop me on their own,
Petrified with fear ironically they ran and I domineered // all who stared,
Into the black box which most humans glared,
The whole earth now is made outta rock,
And a // I can guess that a few didn't stay to die with the flock,
To follow the leader I know better than that,
To risk comfort would be to risk a knife in the back,
So I've got my eyes peeled for those smart people who didn't rot their brain,
People who stared at their computer mainframe,

Programmers who use logic not a remote control switch,
to solve their boredom problems // and to fix this glitch,
Ill have to invent something new,
Perhaps a video game // that corrupts them the same,
Way the TV did to the average mind,
Ill call it World of Warcraft a game that's M M On-line,
A few levels later their mind might as well be a liquid,
For I have melted the gray matter which they live with,
And now they're slaves to me // for I make them pay a fee,
Of one hundred dollars every single day of every month,
I preyed and conquered the smart and now I'm the only one // left,
Now all the fools // and the educated were under my rule,
Couldn't escape spectacular mind bedazzlement,
Or the cost of an online video game monthly rent,

So on to the next fiends those who stay at home and read books,
Reading Rainbow Rangers more dangerous than they look,
They bring philosophy and mathematics to the table,
Repelling all the vices that I'm able // to,
Bring to the field // I'll have to break out the weapon that I yield,
To use // ,
It's the super comfy spot destroyer bomb T-minus 3-2-1 you lose,
Activated detonated spot placated goodbye reading forever,
Unfortunately now I wont be able to sleep in bed or chair,
Or so it seemed until I woke up from my daytime dream,
It must've been that comic book that I was reading,
Marvel Team-Up number 2 October '90 something,
But I walked outta class just a little bit diff-rent,
Gained rapping powers beyond my fellow human students,
But I realized soon what I saw wasn't a fantasy,
It was what definitely shall and quite soon will be...

Reality

People use Occam's Razor to cut out little pieces,
Little cookie shapes, for their homemade thesis,
Thinking that the one's been given must be incorrect,
Taking from other people ides, to resurrect,
They expect // everything to be explained by logic law or myth,
And then we go and turn around our ideas so that the fit,
Our own reality is made so that everything is stable,
But we can see the truths that upset our bedtime fable,
Creepy little things that like to slip into subconscious,
Drive us slowly mad or be rejected by unlogic,
This defense is then used to assault the minds of many,
Bringing about for everyone an accepted reality,
Scientists and Priests are fighting the same fight
Telling each other about who is wrong and right,
Casting aside those who claim the unseen,
We call them insane lock them up lose the key,
But it isn't always this sometimes we embrace,
Idea's that break boundaries which reality will replace,
Because for every answer given exist infinite quests,
Doesn't matter how hard you work you will not receive rest,

Dr. Seuss

Dr. Seuss // shakes // my very soul,
I don't know // why he ol- // ny raps to just 3 year old's
When he could preach to all people // the whole mess,
Rapping for the worst and spitting for the best,

Didn't know that someone so educated and smart,
Could rap to my brain and rhyme to my heart,
Just by making up words and forging tongue twisters,
While talking 'bout an elephant and his trial with a lazy bird,

A fox with footwear torturing poor Mr. Knox,
Tripping up my mouth more than swallowing rocks,
Oh the places you'll go // the things you will see,
Before you ever even get to flip to page 3,

P-H-Dizzle Sizzle is like a missile // whistling,
Through my mind // his rhymes are fresh and his rhythm is gold,
Because he packs in values along with gibberish,
It makes you wish you had his gift for rapping to kids,

Installing inert abilities // with // words,
That don't activate until // they've // heard,
His books much much later in their years,
And when its spoken aloud it brings them to tears,

O.I.L.

O.I.L. (Oscillating Industrial Lacerators)

Oil // for being,
A three letter word it's got so much meaning,
To us Americans it seems,
Oil price can be our nightmare or possibly a dream,

It all depends on your point of view,
But I got some news // for you,
Our supply of that special brew black tea,
Is running really near empty,

Scientists discovered what some already know,
That the supply is limited just like everything we "own",
So people start to panic while OPEC stays firm,
For they know the outcome // they know they will earn,

For the supply drops as the demand soars,
1.34 trillion barrels wont last forever in stores,
What this means past // our // small // city,
Is that countries that produce it will go crazy,

Taking away their main source of income
The biggest way that they make money and then some,
Will plunge countries who are already // quite shaky,
Deep down into the pits of political anarchy,

What's // just what's to do // with the problem that ensues,
With oil running out and peeps acting like they belong in zoos?
Who knew // that this would be and issue,
When they invented the automobile // that goes zoom?

Alternative fuels and energy invention,
Is something I should mention,
Technologies of Fission, Solar, Water, Wind,
And don't forget about the controversial cold fusion,

These are all being researched // to fix this mess,
But unfortunately they all have their own distress,

Compressed air doesn't work well in winter,
Fission chambers don't allow you to enter,
Solar panels heat up and tend to explode,
Not really I'm just joking you should know,

Wind // isn't // always there,
While water its subjects tends to wear,
Cold fusion // as we well know,
Has not been able to be kept cold,

All these possible solutions have their own glitches
But we shouldn't give up we shouldn't just ditch it,
There has got to be a good fix // that will fix it,
Humanity has prevailed // how many times at least 6 digits,

For our solution // well that's another story,
We'll get the information you can get the glory,
You find the answer the only thing we can suggest,
Is that we moderate the amount of oil our country ingests,

Thanks for listening its been a pleasure,
Hopefully this rap will get you to measure,
Your oil consumption,
But still use enough for you-to-function,

Music or No?

I have thought long on this topic, and have sought much counsel from other musicians, "G's", random people, and the other voices in my head, about whether or not Rap can be considered music. And assuming that it is, can it grow past its current stage, or is it bound to mix with other genres and styles of music and then die out? The latter of the two queries we will all have to wait and see, but in the mean time, I would say, "Fo.Sho." Generally rap uses one or more set beats, lyrics(obviously), and a melody and possibly a harmony. The melody and harmony, as well as the rhythm, may be taken from songs of other styles. Funk and Soul are generally the ones chosen but this is not always the case. Back to the point, Rap has the three major elements of music a melody(lyrical and/or instrumental), a harmony(generally instrumental), and a set rhythm. I guess this is only technicality and some would argue that music needs to have more qualifiers than that but I'll leave that to another post; and another day.

Goodnight, and Godspeed.
